Are You Sabotaging Your Business?

self-sabotage

Self-sabotage can affect any area of your life and sometimes you’ll find it happening to your business.

It can look like:

  • Over-Busyness

Being too busy to respond to new customers in a timely manner and then forgetting to reply at all.
  • Hurrying

When a workshop doesn’t work the first time, completely changing topics instead of looking at what didn’t work. Or changing a marketing strategy before you’ve had time to tweak it, make it better and make it work for your ideal client.

  • People Pleasing

Doing whatever potential clients ask you for as opposed to creating a vision and a program that you absolutely love and believe in.

  • Perfectionism

Not launching or putting your new product or website out there because it’s “not ready yet” as opposed to launching even before it’s perfect to test it and make it better.

So what is self-sabotage and why do you do it?

Self-sabotage is when old patterns and habits from childhood that used to keep you safe, protected and connected to your family are now messing up your business and your life!

For example – maybe you were praised for being perfect or people-pleasing.  Maybe you were bullied for not wearing the perfect outfit.

Maybe your parents or caregivers told you you weren’t working hard enough at school so you developed the habit of being too busy to look like you were working hard.

Maybe in your family, you were taught to hurry and that if something didn’t work right away that to throw it away.

These are some surface examples and sometimes it goes even deeper. Some of these patterns might even be connected to physical or emotional abuse and so are very deeply ingrained.

How do you get over them?

Regardless of where they come from, the good news is that awareness is the first step to getting over these patterns. Even just reading this article and noticing which of these patterns is the most active for you is the first step towards healing it.

Every time you notice your pattern is coming up, see if you can make a different decision. Or if you notice after the fact, commit to making a different decision the next time this issue comes up.

The next step to healing is to revisit some of the main incidents that started this pattern, to acknowledge the incidents and to notice how they impacted your body.

For example, if your parents wanted you to behave perfectly when guests were coming over so they yelled at you if you were crying or temper tantruming you would have learned to stop. You likely learned to stop yourself from crying by holding your breath or stop yourself from temper tantruming by tensing your shoulders to hold your hands down at your sides.

These both create tension in the body and then when you do it for years and years it creates chronic tension.

So these old self-sabotaging patterns of people-pleasing, over-busyness or perfectionism actually get stored in the body.

And that’s exactly why I created the Somatic Business Program for Female-Identified Entrepreneurs where we work through these childhood incidents that have created the self-sabotaging pattern and do exercises to release the chronic tension from the body.

We do this both in a group Core Energetics sessions where you get the support of other female-identified and non-binary entrepreneurs who have similar experiences and can understand where you’re coming from. Then in addition to this, you get individual sessions where we can dive deep into your personal experiences and personal struggles with business so that you get all the individualized support you need to really move forward with clear heart centred action and trust in your business.

The registration deadline for this program is THIS SATURDAY.
