Drill Sergeant vs Coddling

My high school volleyball coach was tough. We’d run suicides at the beginning of practice and then if we complained about being tired she’d say, “Games are won by the team who can still play well tired.”

Sometimes we’d talk about her behind her back, but deep down I knew she cared. In gym class she taught us kickboxing and was passionate about us, young women, knowing self defense.

When you set a sacred goal, you become your own coach.

A lot of times with goals you might use Coach Drill Sergeant, where you scream at yourself if you don’t keep up with your goal.

And after that, you’ll likely switch to Coach Coddle, who says you’re doing a good job even if you spend all your time watching Netflix.

Now, if you want to make sustainable progress towards your goal, I suggest you call on Coach Lovingly Challenge. Sometimes on your way to your goal, you’ll need to REST and HEAL. And at other times you’ll need to challenge yourself from a place of love for who you are becoming.

Now you don’t have to do this perfectly. It’s okay if Coach Drill Sergeant and Coach Coddle show up at times, you’re human.  But the more you develop a relationship with Coach Lovingly Challenge, the faster you’ll reach your goal in a way that feels healing and focussed on your personal growth.

I help my clients develop their relationship with this inner coach (aka your Higher Self or God) so that they can reach for their goals in a way that feels loving and where they know they’ll be able to sustain the growth and continue to get closer and closer to their dream life.

If you’re curious about this, let’s hop on a free one-hour consultation. We’ll talk about your sacred goals and what’s going to best support you to get there.
