Selfishness is Healing

Selfishness actually helps to heal trauma.

After trauma occurs, your brain develops a strategy to avoid future trauma.

The strategy could be:

      • People pleasing
      • Hyper awareness of what other people need (and less focus on what you need)
      • Or walking on eggshells

These strategies actually helped you to stay safe when you were a child or when you were living in an abusive situation.

But now that you don’t live with these people, these strategies are outdated and leave you drained.

This path to healing can be fun albeit sometimes unfamiliar or even scary:

Do one thing that’s selfish TODAY.

This interrupts old survival strategy patterns and starts to resource you. And as you become more resourced, you begin to heal on a deeper and deeper levels.

What’s one small selfish thing you can do today?

Hit reply or message me to tell me what you’re going to do and I’d love to cheer you onnn!!
