Fuck New Years Resolutions

Here’s why:

The patriarchy has WEAPONIZED self care.

Folks socialized as women now BEAT THEMSELVES UP if they don’t have a “great morning routine”, do enough yoga or have the perfect resolutions.

It’s actually something that stresses many people out as another thing to put on their to do list.

But I have a HACK to access TRUE self care.

I give my clients the homework of being selfish.

They come back to me and say “Bryn I was so selfish, you’re going to be so proud of me, this is what I did.”

      • I took a sleeping pill
      • I left the kids with my husband and went to Costco with my sister
      • I got McDonalds instead of cooking
      • I kept the baby sitter even though the holiday party was cancelled so my partner and I could relax together
      • Took a bath
      • I took Advil when I had menstrual cramps
      • I actually took a sick day when I was sick


So here’s my New Year, New You Challenge. 30 Days of Selfishness. Every day for the next 30 days do ONE thing big or small that’s selfish.

You could:

      • Buy what you ACTUALLY want off the menu even though it’s a little more expensive.
      • Sleep in.
      • Watch something funny on TV instead of a documentary.  
      • Stay up late. 
      • Lock yourself in the bathroom for an extra few minutes to scroll IG. 
      • Postpone a coffee date with a friend because you’re tired.
