And if your clients get stuck in the middle, you can help them complete the cycle too.
To complete the cycle:
Any kind of movement, going for a long walk, run, dancing, yoga etc. If the gym’s not a good fit for you, you can do it other places.
So do whatever movement your body enjoys and once you tire yourself out, you’ll usually feel better. Even master bation can help if that’s something that makes you feel better after.
The other thing that can help to process the emotions is music. Finding the song or genre that matches your mood can help the feelings to process.
If you’re in pain maybe it’s softer music.
If you’re angry maybe it’s Linkin Park or other yelly music.
Also for me Pixar movies can help lol. And there’s research on this too. When you read a book or watch a movie your emotions mirror the emotions of the main character. So if you watch a movie or read a book that you like that has a “happy ending” it can help you process the painful emotions and get to a more peaceful place.
I had the M alliteration thing going but I gotta break it because connection is so important. I’m really glad you reached out to me, because that’s a connection so you don’t have to be alone with these intense feelings.
And it can also help to reach out to a friend. I have a friend I often text when I have super low days and even though she’s a slow text responder, just sending that text and knowing that she’ll get back to me eventually makes me feel less alone.
So texting or calling or meeting up with a friend can help your nervous system know that it’s safe even though you’re having these big feelings.
