Friends, I made a mistake.

I launched a course called the Month of Courage and a few weeks after, I didn’t feel good about it.

Sometimes I set the date and that helps me to get my butt in gear to produce. But this time, that didn’t happen. This time, when I thought about working on the course, it felt like a heavy burden. This time, it was bad.

So I thought and wrote about it. The problem, I’ve realized, is that the topic is too vague. Courage needs to be applied to something. What was the problem my course was trying to solve? I couldn’t work on it because I didn’t know what the workshop was really about or who it was for.

So I have cancelled the event. I apologize if you got the invite and were interested. I want to produce high quality products that inspire me and, subsequently, inspire you and this course wasn’t going to be that. It is better for both of us that it is cancelled.

Since I made the decision, I’ve felt more free and working on new ideas has felt light and spacious. One topic I am exploring is Sacred Career Design. This takes courage out of the abstract and applies it to a challenge many of us face.

And as I brainstorm and research – I am getting more and more inspired. With clarity about the “problem” developing a solution comes with ease.

I have long held beliefs: that work has to be hard; that quitters are lazy scum.

But I’m starting to realize this isn’t true. A work ethic is important but work doesn’t have to make you feel dead. Work can make you feel alive.

And that’s what Sacred Career Design is about: finding what long held beliefs are keeping you stuck, looking at what makes you feel alive and taking steps towards a career that is more in sync with who you are and that life you want. I’m excited about this topic and look forward to sharing more in the not so distant future.

And so, yes, I made a mistake. But by listening and letting it go, the mistake is helping me is move towards the life that I want.

Talk soon,
Bryn

  1. I agree that it is courageous to admit a mistake and move on, this was my first thought.
I read it three times and I do not see a mistake. I see staying Present, being honest, connecting with your process of integrity.
    I respect that.
Sharing what your writing was for me. Thank you.
