Spending money I didn’t have…

I was spending money that I didn’t have on things that were not that important to me and was telling myself that next month would be better, next month my business would “break through.”

This went on for months. I was in school, I’d quit my stable non-profit job and was focusing on growing my business. My numbers – both income and expenses – weren’t good and so I avoided looking at them.

I lived in some wishful thinking reality where next month everything would turn around and I’d be fine. But it didn’t.

One day I realized if I kept going at that rate I was going, I’d run out of room on my line of credit. And that scared me. I started to wake up. I started to look at things more carefully.

I told my therapist the truth about my finances and got her support. She also gave me a reality check. And I started to make some big changes to get myself back on track financially.

I’d never been good at organization. I’d never liked spreadsheets and meticulous tracking. I’d always thought that budgeting was boring, restrictive and suffocating.

But slowly and surely I changed. I started taking better care of my finances. I started to look at my numbers more carefully and now it actually brings me a sense of peace.

And that’s even in the months where I spent more than I earned. Because I’ve been there… And it’s not fun! But being able to see those numbers clearly brings me back into reality and lets me make the best possible decisions for myself going forward.

So if you’re scared about your finances right now because of everything that’s happening, a great place to start is to look clearly at your numbers.

It’s not the most sexy or hip thing to do but it’s medicine. It’s cleansing. It’s like drinking a truth serum.

And if you feel nervous just reading this, I want to support you. I want to hold your hand through this challenging time (figuratively of course! I’m all for physical distancing!) and I want to help you to make the best decisions possible for yourself and your business right now.

So tomorrow, I’m running the Steering Your Biz Through Crisis workshop from 1:30 – 3:00 pm EST.

This is a sacred circle to process any feelings that are coming up around your finances right now so that afterwards you can tune into your intuition and make any changes you need to make from a grounded place.

You’ll be with other female-identfied and non-binary entrepreneurs and receive the healing of being seen in your process and getting support.  And you’ll experience others who are going through similar (and sometimes different!) challenges during this time.

Because of the financial situation of many entrepreneurs right now, I’m offering this at a pay-what-you-can rate.

Join here.

And if you want to go even deeper into your relationship with money and power you can join Richard Kwan and I for the Money and Power Mini-Series.

You’ll:

      • Look clearly at your numbers, pre and post pandemic

      • Explore your relationship with money and learn how to connect to your core power in times of crisis
      • Learn about your coping mechanisms and defense strategies that get triggered in times of fear

You’ll bring awareness to your mental and emotional blocks that keep you from manifesting the life that you want and redirect your attention to what really matters to you.

And you’ll have a safe space to bring all your feelings around the struggles you’re having during this intense time.

Monday, April 6th & 13th 7:00 – 9:30 pm

Location: Zoom (ONLINE)

Register here.

And this workshop is open to all!

Sending you so much supportive energy to look clearly at your numbers during this difficult time and to take care of yourself as best you can.

Lots of love,
