You have a secret self that has dreams for your future.

Do you secretly want to write a book? Put out on an art show? Open a restaurant?

My secret is that I want l to impact a lot of people but a part of me judges myself for being shallow. The goal of wanting to be “famous” seems absurd, rude, superficial.

You might judge your secret goal too. What does your inner voice want you to do that never seems to go away?

Marianne Williamson writes, “Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we’re powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us.”

So, yes, this secret goal will scare you. It’s supposed to. If it scares you but makes you feel a tiny bit excited too, you know you’re on the right path :).

Sometimes it’ll take a major crisis to convince you to go for your dreams. Maybe your mother gets cancer and you realize life is short. Or maybe you go through some other crisis that makes you question everything.

But my hope for you is that you don’t wait for a crisis. Don’t wait for life to slap you in the face to convince you to move forward with your dreams.

You need to start now. The world needs what you have to offer. So take one small baby step towards this!

It could be as simple as writing in your journal, “This is my dream: I want to write a book or direct a play or start a church or open a community centre.”

Start by committing to yourself. And then tell one person who you KNOW will support you and be your cheerleader!! It’s important to PROTECT your dreams at first, so that you don’t go back into not believing them. Tell your best friend or your sister or your aunt. Whoever you know will love you for it and be so excited for you.

Here’s my secret:

I want to write a book. I want to be famous. I want to help a lot of people to heal from trauma and other painful childhood experiences.

Eek. Yikes. That’s hard to do.

Okay, now it’s your turn. Hit “Reply” and write “I want to….” And I promise to be your biggest cheerleader!!

The world needs you. The world needs the most authentic version of you. It needs your art or writing or healing gifts. And so take one baby step today towards becoming the person you’re meant to be.

You got this!! I got you!!
