Discounting Progress

There are people who’ve made a million dollars but who are constantly scared they’re going to lose it all because they haven’t acknowledged how they did it. They haven’t acknowledged the skills they’ve developed to make money and take good care of themselves.

And it’s easy to discount progress on the way to achieving your goal.

You want to be better with money, so you start looking at your bank account daily. But you aren’t seeing any financial change yet, so you discount the progress of checking.

You want to find love, so you put yourself out there and go on more dates. But you haven’t found your partner(s) yet so you discount the progress.

You’ve run one workshop in your new business but you keep telling yourself “I haven’t started yet.”

The problem with discounting progress is that it makes it easy to think:

      • Nothing works
      • I’m not good at this
      • I’m not making any progress
      • And I don’t know how to

These thoughts make it easy to quit or to only make a half assed effort. Which, in turn, makes it harder to achieve your goal.

Compare this to when you acknowledge every little bit of progress. You’ll start to think:

      • I’ve done the first step, I can take the second step
      • I know how to make progress towards my goals
      • This is doable
      • One step at a time, I can get there

These thoughts will fuel towards more baby steps and will lead you to achieving your goal.

It’s essential, even if you’ve only taken one teeny tiny step or if you’re well on your way towards your goal, that you acknowledge all the success you’ve created.
