I was watching the Bill Nye doc on Netflix and it showed that climate change deniers are funded by big oil companies.
So Bill Nye is trying to change their minds but there’s a lot of financial reasons for them to continue to deny climate change.
And in 1976 the majority of the Republican Party was pro-choice, because they wanted to keep the government small and so thought it shouldn’t intervene with reproductive choice.
But then, the party realized that to win over conservative Christians, they should take an anti-choice stance to the platform. So they did even though at that time the majority of Republicans were pro-choice.
It worked to get conservative Christians’ support both publicly and financially. And slowly they were able to shift the majority of Republicans to an anti-choice stance.
Republicans are good at branding, for example, calling it “pro-life” instead of anti-choice.
And part of that is because of the MONEY that affords time and energy to be put into the branding efforts.
Bill Nye is not as well funded as climate change deniers.
Pro-choice movements are not as well funded as the anti-choice movements.
Which is one of the reasons I want to get wildly rich, in an ethical way, to financially support movements I believe in!

PS I know that money won’t solve everything, but it’s one of the tools I want to have access to, to create a more just world.
I haven’t figured out exactly how to become an ethical billionaire but I’m working on it one baby step at a time. It’s a fun goal and I’m not in a rush… but I want to welcome large amounts of money towards me, because I know in my heart that I’ll do my best to steward it well and I’ll certainly do it better than Ken Ham. And I have a feeling that you will too!!
