Toxic Positivity and Somatics

Somatics welcomes the NEGATIVE SHIT! I actually get excited when a client brings up something they hate ;)!

When processing a negative emotion, don’t build a house and live in the anger or hate or fear forever.

But let this feeling fully into your body so your nervous system can digest it.

As a mammal your body is designed to digest emotions! You just need to let the emotion into then your body does the rest.

Sometimes your clients hate their kids.

Sometimes they feel hopeless about their career.

Sometimes they feel frustrated with their mother-in-law.

All of these emotions are important and need to be acknowledged and welcomed so that they can be processed.

A lot of my clients are used to being strong and stoic all the time.

And these are good qualities.

But you also need moments to be weak or scared or angry.

Because if you always push those “negative” emotions, they get stuck in your body by because you don’t allow them to be processed.

And after you fully process these emotions is where you touch true relief and joy.

Fuck toxic positivity. Fuck always looking on the bright side. Fuck “don’t worry, it’ll get better.”

Sometimes it just hurts and is hard and what I need is for you to hold my hand and acknowledge that it hurts, it sucks, it’s hard.

If you want to learn how to work somatically with your clients and help them to process feelings and develop healthy boundaries, this free workshop is for you.
