You might’ve learned that receiving always had a catch. You had to give back, even if it was something subtle like praising your mom’s cooking.

As I type this, I feel the heavy icky feeling of obligation in my chest.

The good news is healing this will impact your love life, money mindset, ability to enjoy vacation, career fulfillment, all the things.

Here’s how:

    1. Boundaries

      On your own stomp your feet, put your hands out in front of you to push that tainted energy away and say NO NO NO NO NO!

      As a child you had to receive the tainted gifts because you couldn’t switch out your parents or caregivers. This exercise teaches your nervous system that it’s safe now to say no.

      Then if you have a sickly sweet boss or partner, you can say no to the hug or the “free mentorship.” Or even get a new job or end the relationship. 
    2. Open to Receive Healthy Energy

      Lie on your back, put your arms up to the sky with palms facing each other and say, “I need.” 

      This is probably going to feel HORRIBLE at first but see if you open up to nature’s love.It’s safe now to ask for your needs. If the person you ask says no, you can ask someone else.

      You have way more agency now compared to when you were a little kid and your parents were your only source of food/love/attention.
