I draw
simple lines
a tree emerges
from the stillness.

gym!
I hang
up-side-down
in the sky
enlightenment will come
through my body
So I dance up the scaffold
then lie
waiting
for the next task.

like an old woman tumbling down the stairs
the sound tumbles out
thumping
clumping
not quite rhythmic
just jumbled enough.
pouring onto the page
pouring out our hearts
it sings
and we sing with it.

a young girl
strolls into the middle of the room
looking for her father
she waits
and there is a weighty-ness to her waiting
not the delicate anticipation of a new love
but the heaviness of knowing and not knowing
why did his light blow out so young?
and even though she knows full well
why does she wait?

can you witness consciousness?
can you see that I’m alive?
living
loving
laughing
can you see me?
Wake up!
I’m here!
look at who I am!
see me!
it’s all I ask,
see me.

we stand
on the bridge
connecting two worlds
facing each other
facing out
what moves in the stillness?
stepping forward
backward
not knowing where we’re going.
we stand
on a bridge
connecting to worlds
we dance.

broken
sore
beat
at the end of the day
bone
tired.
I sit
satisfied
tired
warm
in bed
with a good book
bliss.
How do I stop?
put on the breaks
come into stillness
Once I get going
how do I remember the quietness of my heart?
Do I have enough will
to stop?
stop
pause
break
release
live

There is a glint in the eye
a sparkle and then it is gone
just as the waves disappear into the stillness of the lake
becoming one

the wind whips through my hair
the sun kissing my face
I am free
I walk the real life
carrying a drill
and even though the bits are all stripped
I keep working
‘This isn’t structural is it?’
The wind blows
And a delicious tiredness washes over my body.
I am free.
