i walk down the street
and imagine beneath me
people hurtling through space
in metal tin can
pretending to not notice
eachother

I wait for the bus
in the winter
hands cold
heart warm
back shivering
and the woman beside me
looks me in the eye
I emerge from the cold
understood.

carrots
hiding
underground
until we dig them free
leafy spinach
sprouts
from the mud
bursting
into
my mouth.

is freedom
I fly through the air
land on my feet
softly
bounce
into my life
dancing to beyonce
she is my favourite
hope
fills my body
and my soul
but movement
fills my life.

where are we now?
and when can we be free?
and do I have to wait?

breathe out
take three sips of tea
let yourself go
breathe out
peace
washes over your body
healing the little bits of pain
breathe out
take three sips of tea
let yourself go

breathe
feel your body
back against the chair
feet on the floor
breathe
anger
courses through my veins
sadness
overcomes my body
breathe.

Third year in a row and I’m at it again ;)!!
I’m doing the 108 Poetry Challenge to raise funds for the Young Adult Program at Yasodhara Ashram. The Young Adult Program supports young adults to explore their ideals and bring them forward in their lives. It had an incredible impact on my life and hundreds of other participants who have moved through the program.
My goal is to write 108 poems in 30 days and raise $1000 for this amazing program. You can scroll down or click here to read my poetry!
