The view from my bedroom at the Ashram.
Two years ago at Yasodhara Ashram in the Kootenay Mountains of Western Canada I had the perfect Christmas. A walk alone on the beach followed by a beautiful brunch with my good friends, a gift exchange, helping cook Christmas dinner and then after dinner time alone reading books. It was the perfect balance of time alone, time in nature and time with people I loved.

Ahhh! It’s so terrifying to post this on the internet. But it is the truth.
I am writing a book!
This all came about because, as many of you know, for two years I wrote a 108 poems in the fall to raise money for the Young Adult Program at Yasodhara Ashram, which means I have over 200 poems written on all different kinds of topics.
soft
I run my hand along the edge
I run the glass against my face
to feel its softness
and remember the day I walk on the beach with you.
I am free
from the limitations of the day
and anything becomes possible.
Imagination
runs wild.
Freedom.
look at me
blinking
orange
and I wonder
what they are thinking?
and what am I thinking?
my opinions
infiltrate
my poetry
freed
from my mind
I know what I think
and that I have
something to say.
will we have a new prime minister?
when will the war end?
and how can we love each other?
looking for the light.
i keep looking for the light

I wake up tired
heavy
closed
tight
I don’t wanna get up
I don’t wanna leave my bed
I don’t wanna leave my house
and you
can’t
make
me.
tired
heavy
foggy
I want to wake up.

Some are gone
remembered
by ivy
in the living room.
Some are alive
holding their first
great
grand
child.
And pouring cups of tea
to keep us warm.
